Sudden, absolute darkness.

I stared up into the starry night sky and watched as the moon slowly disappeared behind the misty clouds. The stars sparkled like diamonds as I stared and stared, never taking my eyes off the glowing moon. More people gathered around me in the moonlit forest, all of them staring into the sky like I did, watching, waiting. Suspense hung in the air as we all watched the moon travel across the sky. It wouldn't be long now, soon the moon would disappear completely behind the clouds and it would all be over.

Everyone was in the forest then, all of them staring into the sky and waiting for the moon to become invisible.

The moon disappeared completely and no one could find it. The forest was now completely black, the moon was gone. The waiting stopped, but nothing happened. We were all still alive, yet, the world was supposed to end. Everyone including myself looked around in confusion, wondering if anyone knew what was going on, but all of them had the same look of disbelief written on their faces.

We didn't know what was happening, we didn't know what to think, we didn't know what to do. But we did know one thing for sure; something was terribly wrong.
